» Church Locks Out Commercial Sex Workers From New Year Eve Service «

In what is reminiscent of the biblical five foolish virgins
who were locked out of the feast of the bridegroom,
commercial sex workers hoping to get into church late for
prayers ringing in the New Year were shut out by security
at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Akure on Thursday.
Many prostitutes who had attempted to sneak in for last
minute grace got the shock of their lives as they were
prevented from entering the church by the gatemen.
TheSunshineTimes.com gathered that there are many
brothels around the Sacred Heart Cathedral which cater to
the needs of men in search of quick sexual favours. It is
the custom of the ladies to make a late dash into the
church in order to crossover into the new year.
However, this year would be different and the
incident caused a bit of commotion at the gate as many
other people including revellers from adjoining bars were
also affected by the action of the gate men who were
trying to ensure that people with deadly weapons did not
sneak into the service to cause harm to the congregation.
One of the security men was heard murmuring: “Na God
catch dem today. Dem too like to always rush into church
at dying minute. Where dem dey before, yeye people.”
Some of the affected ladies, however, told
TheSunshineTimes.com that it was their personal
business to come to church at their own time.
“They should not stop us from entering at any time we like,
this is God’s house for crying out loud,” said a lady who
simply identified herself as Tina.
Eventually, those bent on crossing over into the new year
in a place of worship had to find alternatives at other
churches close by.
