Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) that reject youth corps members posted to them for primary assignment are acting against an existing policy of the Nigerian government.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, drew attention to the policy at the end of the three weeks orientation programme of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), for the 2019 batch A service year.
The FCT Minister reminded the MDAs to strictly adhere to the government policy on acceptance of youth corps members posted to their establishments.
He said the government was aware of all the challenges facing the NYSC and would continue to encourage cooperation between the Federal, State, and Local Governments to ensure smooth and effective execution of the operations and programmes of the scheme.
A total of 3,120 youth corps members were deployed in the 2019 batch A service year to the Federal Capital Territory when the orientation camp opened on March 29.
