The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2017 is Ugochi Ihezue

It was a tough competition but in the end Miss Kebbi - Ugochi Ihezue beat 36 other contestants to emerge the winner of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2017 pageant.

She is officially MBGN World and will represent Nigeria at the Miss World pageant.

Others in the top five include - Fourth runner-up – Miss Bayelsa, Third runner-up/Miss Ecowas- Miss Oyo, Second runner-up/Miss Tourism – Miss Plateau, First runner-Up/MBGN Universe – Miss Sokoto.

"What do you want? Men to see you?" - President Mugabe blasts Zodwa Wabantu for not wearing underwear

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has blasted South African entertainer Zodwa Wabantu for not wearing underwear.

Speaking at a rally in front of a 10‚000-strong crowd in Bindura on Saturday, Mugabe said he is aware that a decision to ban her from participating at official government events made him a “killjoy"

“I’m sorry we disappointed many men” before questioning why Zodwa would attend parties without underwear.

“You just come without covering your decency. What do you want? Men to see you? We don’t want such‚” he said.

On her first visit to Zimbabwe two months ago‚ Zodwa was warned that Mugabe and other political figures would not “tolerate” her not wearing underwear‚ with some media in that country, reporting that she would be deported.

She was billed to perform at the Harare International Carnival and told TshisaLIVE that she would only go if she was allowed to be “who is she.”

Zodwa was then going to perform at a club instead of a government festival‚ but that was also cancelled at the last minute.

On Monday Zodwa told TshisaLIVE she believed that it was because of “political games.”

“The show was cancelled at the last moment. They said I must tell everyone that I am sick and they would send me money to cover the trouble. It’s a political thing. It was politics behind closed doors because apparently people were protesting that they want me to perform and sponsors were pulling out of the event because reports about me were drawing too much (negative) attention to the event‚” she said.

The decision has drawn mixed reaction‚ with political figures weighing in on the decision.

“There are many things that are wrong in this country and they are not addressed. But suddenly someone asks about Zodwa and it becomes a national interest‚ as if it’s a state of emergency‚” said a prominent political activist Josphat Ngulube.

Photos: Over one million people rally for Catalan to gain independence from Spain

On Monday, over one million Catalans rallied in Barcelona waving red and yellow striped flags and banging drums, in a show of support for independence after Madrid moved to block a referendum on the region's split from Spain.  

 

According to them, September 11 marks the 'Diada', Catalonia's national day, which commemorates the fall of Barcelona to Spain in 1714 and is traditionally used by pro-independence activists to call for secession for the northeastern region with a distinct language.  

 

However, this year's event had particular significance as a show of strength for the independence movement just three weeks ahead of a referendum on the issue which Madrid has declared illegal and taken steps to obstruct in the courts.  

Demonstrators climbed on each others' shoulders to form human towers, a Catalan tradition, while others carried banners reading 'We're going to be a free country!' and 'Full of hope' while wearing fluorescent yellow t-shirts with the word 'yes'.  

 

Protesters said they hoped the vote would go ahead as planned on October 1, 2017. The head of Catalonia's regional government, Carles Puigdemont, told journalists on Monday: "It's not an option that the referendum won't go ahead. It's 20 days away and we've already overcome many hurdles."

The woman who had a Burberry headscarf over her face was made to kneel on a public stage in Banda Aceh as she was whipped 100 times in front of a huge crowd today.

According to the ruthless Islamic law, which rules over the region, she was guilty of adultery for merely being in the presence of a man who she was not married to.

The woman, who was identified only as Mazidah, collapsed from her injuries inflicted by a masked enforcer and had to be rushed to a hospital, where she's being treated.

Yesterday, eleven men and women were also whipped for crimes ranging from gambling to adultery under brutal sharia law in Indonesia.

Seattle Mayor, Ed Murray resigns following child sex abuse allegation

Mayor of Seattle, Ed Murray announced his resignation today, hours after new sexual abuse allegations surfaced against the embattled politician.  

 

His announcement comes after his cousin granted an interview to the Seattle Times alleging abuse, the latest in a series of allegations against the mayor. His cousin is the fifth person to accuse Murray of child sexual abuse.

 

Murray denied the allegations, as he has in the past and said he was resigning effective 5 p.m. Wednesday so the scandal would no longer overshadow his office.

 

According to him, 'while the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our city government to conduct the public's business. To the people of this special city and to my dedicated staff, I am sorry for this painful situation'.

A Nigerian In Germany Loses €85,000 Hidden In A Bag To Lagos Wharf Rats

 A Nigerian, Chinedu Onyebuchi who is based in Bremen, Germany has reportedly lost all his life savings for over eight years he has been living in Dutchland. He alleged that €85,000 which is about N34million hidden inside a luggage was stolen at The Nigeria Wharf. Chinedu Onyebuchi was very sad when he narrated the whole story to Diaspora Reporters. According to him, the luggage where the money was hidden was shipped to Lagos, Nigeria via a Volkswagen golf wagon which has motor engine parts and some used items in it.

He was shocked and almost passed out when his Agent Mr Sunday Anayo told him that his consignment has been vandalised by port miscreants otherwise known as wharf rats. He didn’t believe the story at first not until he got to the wharf that was when it was dawned on him that what he least expected has happened. The circumstances surrounding the purported incident is still unclear as our reporters are working hard to unravel the true state of the matter.

For being violent and stubborn, 79-yr-old ex-Super Eagles coach, Onigbinde files for divorce from his wife

According to reports, former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has filed a divorce suit against his wife, Madam Abiona, at the Ibadan Customary Grade C Court sitting in Mapo.  

 

TheNation reports that Onigbinde told the court that his wife is violent and stubborn, adding that she was unwilling to live peacefully with him.  

 

When both appeared in court, the president of the court, Chief Odunade Adewuyi told the wife about the allegations leveled against her.  When asked if she wanted the marriage to be dissolved, Mrs. Onigbinde replied in the negative, saying she did not know why a divorce suit was filed against her.

 

The court said: “If his (Onigbinde) prayers are heard by the court, do you think the marriage should not be dissolved? Which steps did you take after your husband complained about these allegations? Does he like your attitude? Let us say you are the husband and your wife says he doesn’t want something, won’t you know?”  

 

The woman replied: “He said he doesn’t like it. He said I’m violent, but it is not so. I called the first child and told him about it. Also, I told my child and my husband’s elder brother. Our children went to beg him but he refused.”  

 

The president and other members of the court, Elder E.A. Ogundipe and Chief Raifu Raji, advised her to maintain peace with her husband.  Before the court adjourned hearing in the case, Onigbinde asked if his life would be protected because he was nearly attacked when one of the children and her husband came to his house

Facebook user, Thomas Gwon, took to his page yesterday to claim that he was the one that caught Port Harcourt rapist and ritualist, Ifeanyi Dike, who kidnapped, raped and dismembered the body of his 8 year old neighbour, Chikamso. He escaped from police custody just a day after he was paraded before newsmen. He was re-arrested on September 5th in Jos. The police said he was caught while trying to break into a house but didn't give much detail.
