Controversies have trailed the sudden disappearance of 71
trailers of rice and other grains allocated to Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Adamawa State by the Federal
Government to ameliorate the hardship faced by victims of
insurgency in the state.
The Guardian gathered that the 71 trailer loads of grains
actually arrived the state only for the items to develop
wings two days after the Deputy Governor, Mr. Martins
Babale, flagged off the ceremony marking the distribution of
the consignment, without getting to the IDP camps or to
those that had returned home.
Commenting on the missing trucks of food items, a
member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel
Tsamdu, said reports from his constituency community
leaders confirmed that only 250 bags of 50kg of rice got to
Madagali, as against the two trailers of 600 bags of 50kg
per one trailer load.
Tsamdu urged the Federal Government to immediately set
up a committee to investigate what he described as the
worse crime against humanity and corrupt behaviour.
Details of the planned distribution listed the seven local
government councils in the northern part of the state,
which were the worst hit by the Boko Haram attack, as
beneficiaries of the highest allocation.
But checks by The Guardian revealed that Madagali local
council, that was the worse hit due to its closeness to
Sambisa forest, was allocated only two trailers of rice.
When contacted the District Head of Guluk, headquarters of
Madagali council, Mr. Bello Ichadi, disclosed that only five
district heads of the council received 50 bags of 25kg rice,
making a total of 250bags for the entire Madagali council.
It was also discovered that while the rice and other grains
were packaged in 50kg bags, the few bags given to the
Madagali Chiefs were in 25kg bags, indicating that there
was rebagging of the grains by those charged with the
distribution.
Executive Secretary of the state Emergency Management
Agency, Mr. Haruna Furo, told The Guardian that his
agency, which is in charged of managing IDPs in the state
was not involved in the distribution of the grains from the
Federal Government to the state.
His words: “I cannot tell exactly what went wrong with the
distribution, because we are the agency that is charged
with the responsibilities of taking care of IDPs. But we
were not involved in recent exercise, it was done in Abuja;
even the sharing formular. Many people are calling my
office, bringing complaints, but the only thing we can say is
we are not part of the exercise, so we don’t know how the
distribution was done and the formular that was used.”

5 religious extremists have been arrested in connection to
the murder of a lady evangelist in Kubwa area of Abuja
earlier today.
The victim, 42-year-old Eunice Elisha, the wife of Pastor
Olawale Elisha of RCCG Divine Touch Parish in Kubwa was
hacked to death by some suspected extremists while
preaching the gospel in Gbazango West area of Kubwa
around 5:30am today.
Her killers reportedly left her in the pool of her blood with
her megaphone, bible and cellphone.
Area resident said the deceased is a lovely woman who
had been preaching in the area in the past 16 years.
Earlier today, residence heard her voice as usual but few
minutes later, they heard her screaming blood of Jesus
repeatedly before her voice died down.
She was later found in the pool of her own blood.
Pastor Olawale Elisha who looked dejected expressed
shock today over the brutal murder of his wife of many
years and the mother of his seven children.
The corpse of Eunice Elisha has been deposited in a
mortuary in the area.

The Police at the Ilasan Division, Lekki, Lagos, Western
Nigeria have arrested a Nigerian businesswoman, Onaivo
Salihu, 30 for allegedly slapping a Chinese woman,
Anugwon ChenshienXu on her face during an argument over
a minor accident at Shoprite Plaza, Lekki, Lagos.After
investigation, Salihu was arraigned before an Igbosere
Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a count charge of felony to
with, unlawful assault and slapping.
The Police alleged that the defendant was arrested and
arraigned in court following a complaint by Anugwon
Chenshien Xu that Onaivo Salihu slapped her on her face
during an argument when her vehicle allegedly scratched
her vehicle at Shoprite Plaza, Lekki, Lagos.Police said the
offence is punishable under section 170 of the criminal law
of Lagos State, 2011.

The ruling party, All Progressives Congress says the anti-
corruption war of the Muhammadu Buhari’s government is
neither selective nor partisan.
John Odigie-Oyegun, chairman of the APC, reiterated this
claim in an interview with The Punch, where he noted that
Peoples Democratic Party chieftains are being investigated
because most of them received funds from Sambo Dasuki,
former national security adviser.
He said that when the former NSA was sharing money
“from his ATM machine”, he didn’t extend an invitation to
members of the opposition party.
Dasuki, who has been in custody since 2015, is being
investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) over the alleged diversion of funds
meant to fight the Boko Haram insurgency.
“Prosecution depends on evidence. Once there is evidence,
if anyone has evidence, let him provide it. This generalised
rumour is not basis for serious action of that type. And in
any case, there are a few APC leaders who are being called
to question. It is not as one sided as it seems and it is not
something to be apologetic for”, Oyegun said.
“When the then National Security Adviser was disbursing
funds from his Automated Teller Machine, he did not call an
opposition person to say take money. So, it’s a natural
course of events. This administration- if anybody can read;
the President will not mind whose ox is gored so long as
justice is done. It just happens that as at now, those
whose hands are found in the till happen to be
preponderantly in the PDP. But you can see that a lot of
other investigations are ongoing and quite a few involve
some APC leaders.”
Oyegun also said the ruling party is not interested in an
opposition that is enmeshed in crisis, insisting that the
APC is not in any way responsible for the internal strife in
the PDP.
“All I can say is that they cannot eat their cake and have
it. When their factional chairman left us, they were
celebrating, they were happy saying oh, we’ve got a big
fish. Now that they see the kind of man he is, they are
crying wolf. We have nothing to do with the travails of the
PDP because in reality; we want a virile opposition. We
want an opposition that is responsible, that has ideas to
contribute.
“They have failed to do this so far. So, it is not of any
value to us that they are heating up and that they are
losing the little bit of the sense of direction they had left.
They are just looking for a scape goat. We have absolutely
no interest in what is going on in the PDP. If you recall, we
once urged their members who were trooping into the APC
-as soon as we won the election- to remain in their party
to give us the kind of opposition that will strengthen our
democracy.
“This shows we mean well for them. We asked them to go
and re-engineer themselves and be as we were- a
responsible opposition party. I just pray for them and hope
that they will be able to rediscover themselves, to be able
to start the process of rebuilding themselves. Maybe, it is
even good that what is happening is happening, because it
will give us the time to take the tough decisions that the
country which they ruined requires.”
The APC chieftain further stressed that the federal
government isn’t investigating the campaign finds
expended by the PDP, but rather, public funds that were
pumped into the 2015 election.
Oyegun said individual donors, businesses and companies
who contributed the election campaign of the PDP aren’t
under investigation.
“That is not the issue. There is a great misunderstanding.
We are not investigating PDP campaign funds. We are
investigating records as to how public funds were hijacked
for illegal purposes which were not budgeted for by the
National Assembly. Nobody in business who contributed a
lot of money has been dragged to any tribunal because he
gave PDP funds.
“Public funds, public resources, money that belongs to you,
me and the people of this country were stolen and
diverted. Crude oil was being illegally sold to fund the
campaigns and other political activities. Not just the
campaigns, people just shared money and pocketed.
“It’s not company XYZ limited giving PDP X amount and
about being dragged before EFCC, that is not what is going
on. Anybody who steals from the treasury either to fund
campaign, or to put in his pocket or to buy an estate in
every part of the world would be asked questions. It must
not be allowed. Nobody must be allowed to get away with
that. It is not the same with campaign funding. We are not
investigating PDP campaign funds.”

Man Found Dead In Soak Away Pit In Ogun Shortly After Dinner (g
At Odewale area of Opeilu in Agbado, Ifo Local Government
Area of Ogun State, a man named Kamorudeen was found
dead inside a soak away pit.
According to The Nation, the 32-year-old commercial bus
driver was said to have visited the toilet shortly after he
had dinner around 11 pm on Thursday June 30.
Kamorudeen’s wife reportedly raised the alarm after her
husband did not return from the toilet several hours later.
After a thorough search all night, his body was discovered
by one of his friends in the abandoned soak away pit at the
back of their residence. The recovery of his body was said
to have triggered a violent protest by his friends and
associates, who queried why the landlord of the building
did not cover the abandoned latrine pit for close to 15
years; it took the effort of the men of Agbado Police
Station on the invitation of the community’s monarch, Chief
Solomon Aina to douse the violence.
It was also said that Kamorudeen’s body was discovered
with bodily injuries and blood, fuelling suspicion that he

Commission (EFCC) presently has at least 76
persons on its list of wanted individuals.
Among the number of persons wanted for
various offences are a few politicians and former
public office holders, most of whom are high
profile and well-known.
In compiling the list of the seven most wanted, we
have taken into cognizance the effects of their
crimes on the country, the sheer size of their
alleged loot and the profile of such persons.
Here are the seven most wanted persons on
EFCC’s watch list.
GOVERNMENT EKPEMUPOLO A.K.A TOMPOLO
Tompolo is a former militant leader of the
Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger
Delta (MEND).
He is wanted for conspiracy and illegal diversion
of the sum of N34,000,000,000.
The former militant warlord is alleged to have
mismanaged money from Nigerian Maritime
Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Two bench warrants have been issued by a
federal high court sitting in Lagos for Tompolo’s
arrest but thus far, the security agencies have not
been able to arrest him.
According to the EFCC, Tompolo’s last known
address is No 1, Chief Agbanu Street, DDPA
Extension, Warri, Delta State.
MARIANO ALBINO
Mariano Albino is an Italian who was declared
wanted in connection with a case of obtaining
money under false pretence, stealing and money
laundering.
According to information made available to the
public by the EFCC, the amount involved in the
alleged sharp practice amounts to the tune of
N989, 288,400.
Fifty-three-year-old Albino speaks Italian and
English languages fluently.
His last known address is No 9B, Ezekwuese
close, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
JERRY OGBONNA OBIKE PHILLIP
Phillip is alleged to have withdrawn a sum of N45
million that was erroneously sent to his account.
Following the alleged act, EFCC notified the
public that “Phillip withdrew the sum of
N45,000,000.00 that was mistakenly credited into
his account in a new generation bank”.
“However, it was learnt that, before the money
could be reversed to its rightful owner, Phillip had
allegedly withdrawn the said amount.”
The money was said to have been paid into his
account by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Phillip
hails from Ovim in Isuikwuato local government
area of Abia state.
FADY EL-DAHER
Fady El-Daher was declared wanted by the
EFCC in March 2015.
A staff of El-Alan Construction Company located
at No. 9, Macgregor Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, El-Daher
is wanted in connection with a case of conspiracy,
obtaining money under false pretence and
stealing.
Fady, a Lebanese, served as the project manager
to the company’s construction site at Kofo
Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He allegedly colluded with some of the sub
contractors employed by the company to inflate
the cost of materials and measurement of work
done on site.
Fady was last spotted at Murtala Mohammed
International Airport Ikeja Lagos on July 27.
ABDULRASHEED MAINA
The former chairman of Pension Reform Task
Team (PRTT) was declared wanted for his alleged
role in the alleged pensions biometric contracts
scam.
Maina, ex-head of service Steve Oronsaye, and
two others allegedly mismanaged over N2
billion pension funds.
He was, on July 21, 2015, charged at a federal
high court on a 24-count of procurement fraud
and obtaining by false pretence.
While Oronsaye and two others were present in
court during their arraingment, Maina was amiss
and has since remained at large.
The INTERPOL has issued a worldwide red alert
on Maina, based on a request from the EFCC.
DESMOND OSAWARU
Osawaru is wanted by EFCC for obtaining
$200,000 from a client under false pretence.
His unsuspecting client fell victim to a phony boat
transaction and parted with the aforementioned
sum.
Osawaru’s last known address is No.8. Alaka
Street, Benin City, Edo state.
IBRAHIM SAMINU TURAKI
The former governor of Jigawa state is wanted in
connection with a case of criminal conspiracy,
stealing, money laundering and misappropriation
of public funds to the tune of N36 billion.
Turaki has been on the run since his re-
arraignment in 2011 on a 36-count charge at the
federal high court Dutse, Jigawa state.
During the last sitting on November 13, 2014,
50year-old Turaki was absent despite a subsisting
warrant for his arrest.
In May 2016, agents of the EFCC stormed the
Abuja home of the former senator at 16 Dennis
Osadebe Street, Aso Villa.
The team of operatives who carried out the raid
were unsuccessful in their attempt to
apprehend the former governor, as only
members of his family were found at home.
Comptroller-General Ja'afaru Ahmed Falsified His Age - Sahara Reporters
According to NPS documents in the possession of SaharaReporters, Mr. Ahmed joined the service on 30 November 1985, at the age of 28. He was posted to the administrative unit at the NPS headquarters.
The documents gave Mr. Ahmed's date of birth when he joined the service on July 21, 1957. The date of birth remained consistent until 2015 when Mr. Ahmed sliced two years off his age and arrived at a date of birth of July 21, 1959. NPS documents listing members of the top echelon of the service in 2015 boldly showed Mr. Ahmed, an indigene of Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State, as the sixth highest placed officer. The documents, however, showed a different date of birth to what he claimed at the time he enlisted in the service.
NPS sources disclosed to SaharaReporters that the age falsification was encouraged by retired General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazzau, the Minister of the Interior, who wanted Mr. Ahmed to become the GG of the NPS and spent some time on the post before he retires. The implication of the falsification is that Mr. Ahmed has fraudulently gained two extra years in service

He says the Federal Government should allow his trial to begin, The Nation learnt yesterday.
Dasuki is said to have told his associates that he is not disposed to a secret trial.
He insists that based on service rules in a security system, he only obeyed the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief, former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The ex-NSA, The Nation learnt, told his associates: “I am ready for trial because they have destroyed my family’s name and my professional integrity, especially how we successfully fought Boko Haram and recovered major towns and cities, not villages. They should let my trial start in earnest to enable Nigerians know the truth from falsehood.
There is a plan to try Dasuki’s case in secret to protect some of the witnesses. But Dasuki disagreed.
He said: ”I don’t believe in secret trial and there is no basis for it because the government has filed all necessary papers in court and attached the list of witnesses.
Since the witnesses have become public knowledge, there is no basis for secret trial.’
Dasuki also queried the rationale for keeping him in custody “without any warrant”.
He said: “Since I was detained in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS), I have not been shown any warrant to this effect or court order.
”I deserve to be shown the warrant of detention by DSS and the purpose for restricting me to house arrest. My detention is unlawful.”
He urged Nigerians to prevail on the government to admit him to bail in line with the present administration’s commitment to the Rule of Law.
Dasuki said: “All those who collected funds from ONSA have been granted bail but I am still in custody. I have been granted bail on all the cases filed against me by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and even DSS, but I have not been released.
”If all the beneficiaries of the so-called funds are on bail, what have I done wrong? Nigerians should help prevail on the government to grant me bail.
”I cannot rock the boat. I am prepared for trial. We did everything with national and security interest.”
Dasuki stressed that he disbursed all the funds credited to ONSA based on the directive of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
”Based on the service rules in the security circle, I owe it a duty to obey the President and Commander-In-Chief. Ex-President Jonathan approved all the expenses incurred by ONSA.
”I am ready to prove in court how we complied with the directive of the ex-President.”
Dasuki was initially arrested by the DSS but EFCC took custody of him for trial.
But he was later returned to DSS facility from where he had been going to various courts.
The EFCC had arraigned Dasuki, and two others on 19-count charge of misappropriation of funds meant for purchase of arms before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday in Lagos to address the recent spate of attacks by suspected militants and pipeline vandals in South-West Nigeria, Adams condemned the attacks and described them as “criminal.”
He said that even though some communities have been seeking the support of the OPC on the issue, he had to be sure that its members would not be criminalised for any actions taken.
According to Adams, the OPC had been demonised by people, including those of Yoruba descent, security agents and the media in the past.
He said, “What happened just about 10 days ago in Ikorodu is highly unfortunate. But people of Yoruba are the only people that play politics with their lives and properties. When you have a dog that is preventing criminals from coming to your house and you take it to the veterinary to remove its teeth; when criminals come to your house, what will the dog use to fight them?”
“We will put our house in order. We will work and do the appropriate thing at the appropriate time.
Would law enforcement agencies not twist it against us again? We still have some of our members in Kirikiri and Ikoyi prisons on an issue related to securing a street. An armed robber was killed and the police twisted it as murder.
“What we are saying now is that it has happened and the law enforcement agents cannot arrest any of the vandals, if we move to do it, are we sure the law enforcement agents would not use it against us? Those are the two main things because we have worked to redeem the image of the OPC and we don’t want anything to tarnish it again.”
The OPC leader also criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for condoling with the recent victims of terrorism in Saudi Arabia and ignoring Nigerians recently killed by suspected militants and Fulani herdsmen in South-West Nigeria and Benue State.
He said, “The President was sending his condolences to the people of Saudi Arabia. How many people died in Medina? Just less than 10. He sent his condolences to the United States after the attack in Orlando, and he has never said anything about what happened in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and Agatu, Benue State, where many people were killed.
“It is high time that the President knew that the life of a Nigerian is important. I’m not saying that he should not sympathise with any other country, but your citizens should come first.”

Debit cards allow the owner access to only the balance available in his account.
Jibike Igbayiloye was on a visit to the United Kingdom and had plans to buy some items while on holiday.
She had visited some boutiques and paid for many things she bought with cash until she had no more forex; so, she continued her shopping, using her debit cards on the PoS.
Because she might need some cash to pay for certain items, Igbayiloye decided to enter into a banking hall in the shopping mall to withdraw some forex from the ATM.
Unfortunately, the ATM swallowed the only debit card she took with her to the UK without giving her the required cash.
Igbayiloye went to the complaint desk of the bank to present her problem. She was told to go to her bank to get the card.
She complained that her bank was in Nigeria and there was no way she could reach the bank, but the bank official insisted that she should send an email or call the bank.
Igbayiloye said she would be stranded without the debit card because she had no cash with her and that it was the only card she was using to do everything in the UK.
She pleaded with the bank to open their ATM machine and bring out her debit card as she had no other option to get money.
The bank official decided to consider her plea and took her to an office where she was attended to by another employee.
After several efforts to get it out for her, the employee asked her to provide her means of identification, which she did not hold with her.
Igbayiloye had to rush to the train station and she used her oyster card to enter a train back home to pick her international passport before the bank would close for the day.
When she got back to the bank, she showed her passport and her debit card was returned to her.
Many tourists’ debit cards had been swallowed by the ATM abroad but were not as lucky as Igbayiloye, especially when they used the ATMs that were not within the banking hall where anyone could promptly lodge a complaint.
If a tourist must use his debit card to withdraw money from an ATM abroad, it is advisable that he should have another debit card usable abroad as a substitute.
While the use of debit card can give easy access to purchase anything the buyer wants, it can also cause some headache when things go wrong.
Depending on where a person is using the debit card, the selling firm may put a hold on the money, which can take the bank some days to free.
Again, if a person buys an item abroad with his debit card and returns it to the store, the store can only return his money to the debit card. In some instances, the money hangs and he may not get it back when he returns to his country. This may require him lodging a complaint to his bank to rectify the problem.

When buying online – Credit card is a much better option. If a person doesn’t get his goods, he can do a chargeback during a 60-day window.
At a restaurant – Because there is such high turnover at restaurants, a person does not want a dishonest employee to get hold of his digits

Oliseh was appointed coach of the national team in July 2015 but resigned abruptly in February 2015 citing contract violations, unpaid wages and benefits to players and assistant coaches.
Five months after resigning, Oliseh has revealed that he and his assistant Jean Francois Losciuto are still being owed by the NFF.
The NFF have however insisted that they are not owing Oliseh any money.
Oliseh’s comment comes after the NFF admitted to owing late technical director of the Super Eagles, Shuaibu Amodu.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Lawal Shehu, told newsmen the culprits were arrested in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
He added that one 24 year-old Arigwu Stephen was arrested for allegedly raping a year-old girl in Yar-kede village in 2013.
The father of the victim told The Punch the act was discovered in November 2015 when the daughter (now three) complained of stomach pain and was rushed to Federal Medical Center, Keffi.
He said the doctor decided to run a test and discovered that his daughter was rapped over two years ago.
“I got to know that my daughter was rapped over two years ago after a doctor report at FMC and was admitted for six days before she discharged on Thursday 7, 2016,” he lamented.
The police boss also said the command on July 7, 2016 arrested a suspected kidnapper, who kidnapped a Chinese mining expatriate, Mr. Pan Yuhu and killed a police corporal name (withheld) attached to him.
He said that the suspected kidnapper killed the police corporal and made away with his AK47 rifle with 30 rounds ammunition.
“Since the incident the police commenced an investigation, which eventually led to his arrest in Toto local government area of Nasarawa State.”
It was learnt that the deceased, who was on special duty, was serving at Mopol 38 Akwanga as an escort at the time of his death.
“A case of kidnapping occurred at Ayiwawa village where a Chinese mining company Tongyi group is being operated.”
“The suspect was apprehended following a tip off.”
Shehu added that the command arrested a 29 year-old, an indigene of Niger state, who graduated from Nasarawa state University, Keffi in 2012, Mr. Paul Yohana in Keffi local government of the for allegedly robbed some ladies of their six hands set at gun point.
“I was caught in an armed robbery in Keffi local government area of the state when I robbed some ladies of their hand set in the area.”
“I was taken to prison to serve one jailed term in 2014 because I stole a car and released in December last year,” the suspected car snatcher added.
“The gun, which I had been using to terrorize people in Keffi axis, was given to me by my friend, who is also a notorious armed robber in the area.”
