The most wanted sexually predator in Ebony state Nigeria
has been finally arrested.
This was made known to the press this morning by the
Ebonyi Police Command saying that they have arrested a
middle-aged man for allegedly defiling nine children aged
between six and ten years old.
NAN reported that the suspect, a father of three, allegedly
carried out the act at Ezza South Local Government Area
of Ebonyi state, where he lived in the same compound with
the victims.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr George Okafor,
confirmed the arrest, adding that the matter was under
investigation. “The parents of the victims have, however,
failed to bring them for proper medical investigation; we
expect them to have done that for long. The matter would
be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations;
we promise the public that the matter would be pursued to
its conclusion,” he said.
The Chairman of the Family Law Centre in Abakaliki, Mrs
Elizabeth Nwali, said the centre petitioned the state
Criminal Investigation Department about the matter. “ This
followed the complaints that the suspect, who was handed
over to the Police at Onueke, headquarters of Ezza South,
was discharged the same day without proper interrogation
with him.” she said.
One of the victims told NAN that the suspect defiled her
five times and usually carried out the act in secluded
areas, including inside a car. “When I am deep asleep most
times, he will carry me to a corner of house and insert
something from his body inside me after removing my
clothes and his own, ” she said.
Some parents of the victims told NAN that they became
aware of the act when their children started complaining of
severe pains in their private parts.
“The suspect admitted to the offence when confronted by
members of the community and other stakeholders. “We
suspect strongly that he uses the contents of the
handkerchief used in cleaning their bodies for ritual
purposes; our children have not being themselves since
the incidents occurred, ” they said.

Nigeria may be in for harder times than previously
envisaged as the International Monetary Fund has
predicted that crude oil prices may slump to as low as $20
per barrel in 2016.
In the ‘IMF Executive Board Concludes 2015 Article IV
Consultation with Iran’ report, the body highlighted that the
price of crude oil could drop by between $5 and $15 in
2016, cableng.com reports.
As of Thursday, the price of crude oil in the international
market averaged $37. On December 17, the price fell to $36
per barrel.
The Federal Government 2016 budget had based the 2016
budget on a benchmark oil price of $38 per barrel. If the
IMF prediction comes true, the country will be in serious
trouble as there won’t be any buffer for the budget.
Crude oil revenue accounts for about 90 per cent of
Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings. Nigeria is projected to
produce 2.2 million barrels of crude oil per day in 2016. If it
sells at $38 per barrel, it will generate around $83.6m daily
or $30.51bn in the entire year. At $20 as predicted by the
IMF, Nigeria will generate $44m daily or $16.06bn next
year. This will mean that the country will get at least 47.4
per cent less revenue from oil than what is projected,
adding more pressure to the nation’s need to go borrowing
in 2016.
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, oil related
revenues are expected to contribute N820bn to the
economy, while the budget deficit, which is projected at
N2.22tn, will be funded by foreign and domestic loans.
If the N820bn expected from oil revenues is cut by 47.4 per
cent as a result of the IMF projected decline in oil prices,
the nation’s budget deficit will climb by N388.68bn to
N2.59tn.

A middle aged man and father of three in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chinedu Nwoja is now telling the police why he defiled nine children, whose ages range between of six and ten.
Nwoja, who lives with the children in the same compound, is said to have been having carnal knowledge of the children for quite some time.
One of the victims, Precious (surname withheld), while narrating her ordeal, said Nwoja has had sex with her about five times and that he usually did that in secluded areas including inside his car.
The 10-year-old said at times she will be in deep sleep when the man will carry her to a corner in the compound and defile her.
“Last time, Chinedu carried me when I was sleeping in the house and dropped in a bush at the back of our yard and asked me to remove my clothes.
“When I refused, she torn them off and removed his clothes and slept with me.
“He also usually has sex with me inside his car which he used to park at the back of our compound,” she said.
Another victim, Amarachi (surname withheld) told New Telegraph that she was sent on an errand in the night by her father when Nwoja approached her and started requesting for sex.
“When he came to me and said he wants to have sex with me, I started running but he later caught me and took me inside bush.
“He immediately removed my paints and started rapping me. I shouted but no one heard me because the place was lonely and little bit far from where people stay.
“After, he used his hanker-chief and cleanned my body,” she said.
Some of the parents of the children, Mrs. Elizabeth Nweke and Mr. Monday Obaji said they became aware of the development when their children started complaining of pains in their private parts pointing out that the accused admitted to the offence when confronted by the community members.

Thousands of Muslims celebrating Maulud, which is the birthday of holy Prophet Muhammad, on Thursday escaped what would have possibly been an all-time record calamity, had some eagled-eyed vigilante operatives not intercepted five food flasks filled with bombs outside a popular Maiduguri mosque.
Five suspects believed to be members of Boko Haram loaded five big food flasks (otherwise known as coolers) on a hand-pushed cart and headed for Medinatu Mosques in the heart of Maiduguri, Borno state, where adherents of the Tijjaniya Islamic sect were marking the Maulud Nabiyi.
Fortunately, they were arrested before they got to their destination.
The arrested bombers, according to witnesses, earlier claimed the giant food flasks contained hot rice cooked to be delivered to the celebrating Muslims as gifts.
Normally, during such occasions, which normally attracts thousands of Muslims from different parts of the country, and even from outside it, to the popular Sheikh Abdulfathi mosque located in Medinatu neighbourhood of Old Maiduguri, individuals usually make charity donations in form foods and other consumables to help make visitors comfortable.
“When we saw them coming with handpush-cart filled with food flasks, we thought they were normal people that usually come here,” said Aminu Abdullahi, an operative of the Civillan-JTF.
“We almost passed them on when one of our members instinctively asked what the content of the large food flasks were, and they said ‘hot rice to be delivered to the Sheik’s guests’. All of us were almost deceived but when we insisted on seeing the flasks opened for proper inspection, the conveyors became jittery, and by the time we forced them to open the flask we were shocked to find coupled bombs in all the flasks”.
Witnesses said the arrested culprits were all surrounded before they could escape and handed over to the soldiers in the neighbourhood.
The spokesman of the Borno State branch of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Muhammed Abba Gava, who confirmed the development said, “it was an act of God that those bombs were Intercepted on time: we have over 5000 people converging in Abdulfathi’s mosque and who knows what could have become of them had those bombs detonated”.
Security has been beefed up in most parts of Maiduguri ahead Christmas on Friday.

» Army Has Met December Deadline Of Defeating Boko Haram – Lai Mohammed «

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military
had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram
terrorists.
The minister said this during his maiden meeting with
editorial heads of media houses in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President
Mohammadu Buhari had, upon assuming office, issued a
December 31 deadline to the military to defeat the Boko
Haram terrorists.
“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is
largely won.
“I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a
group of 33 journalists from both the local and international
media to the hot bed of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri,
Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama.
“Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus
kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way
to Banki which leads to Cameroun and the Central African
Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.”
He said the military presence could be felt ”every few
metres along the road; at a point along that road we were
just a kilometre to Sambisa forest.
“They have so degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that
the terrorists can no longer hold on to any territory just as
they can no longer carry out any spectacular attack.”
Mohammed, however, said that though there were still
cases of suicide bombings, it was pertinent to note that
such was the nature if insurgency globally.
“Unlike a war between two armies, an insurgency never
ends with arms victory
“Even in countries like Colombia where insurgency was
supposed to have ended decades ago, attacks like this
still happen.”
He said that the insurgents had adopted a new style of
attacking soft targets like motor parks, schools,
entertainment centres, religious centres, killing innocent
people mostly women and children.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the military in the
fight against terrorism in the country, saying that the
military had availed itself creditably.
“It is our turn as civilians to give them our support; to
realise that the war they are fighting is not their war alone,
but our war, hence we must own the war.”
The minister disclosed that a national security campaign
had commenced to raise awareness among Nigerians
about the war, the sacrifices of our troops, and how to
stamp out the remnant of the war.
“Jingles are being played on national radio and television
as part of the campaign in order to keep the media better
informed about the war, so that they can also better inform
Nigerians,’’ he said.
Mohammed also said that an ad-hoc committee,
comprising media representatives as well as intelligence
agencies, would be inaugurated to regularly be updated

The Federal Government has declared December 24, 25 and 28 as public holidays to mark Maulud Nabiy, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, respectively.
The Minister of the Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Bassey Akpanyung.
“The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 24th December, 2015 as public holiday to mark Eid-El-Maulud celebration.
“Friday, 25th and Monday 28th December, 2015 have also been declared as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebration,” the statement said.
The minister enjoined Muslim and Christian faithful to use the unique occasion to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
He also advised Nigerians to cooperate and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.
Dambazau wished Nigerians, home and abroad, happy celebrations.
Eid-Maulud is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammed in Islam, while Christmas is celebrated by Christians to mark the birth of Jesus Christ.

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Tuesday dissolved a 33-year-old marriage over the claim of threat to life made by a retired civil servant, Mr Jimoh Babatunde, against his wife, Jelilat. Babatunde told the court presided over by Mr Henric Agbaje that Jelilat had made two attempts on his life and had even confessed to killing one of their four children.
“My lord, Jelilat confessed to have killed one of our four children in order to eventually eliminate me for reasons which I cannot actually tell. “Secondly, she put some stuff into my food recently to hypnotise and make me be in servitude to her,’’ the petitioner said. He said that his estranged wife had also tarnished his image and made him a laughing stock in their area.
Babatunde also described Jelilat as insolent, disobedient and lacked any care for him and his children. “I did all I could to change her for the better by talking to her and reporting her to her parents, but nothing came out of it. “Now, she wants to sniff life out of me,” Babatunde said. However, Jelilat opposed the dissolution of the marriage and denied the allegations made by her husband.
The respondent said that if the marriage was dissolved, she had nowhere to go and desired to remain the mother of her children in her matrimonial home. Jelilat pleaded with the court not to dissolve the union and promised to turn a new leaf. Ruling on the divorce petition, Agbaje held that it was clear that the relationship between Jimoh and Jelilat had turned sour and was irreconcilable.
“The court frowns at any case of threat to life as the one currently been witnessed. “It is abundantly clear that there is something cruel about Jelilat’s disposition, otherwise, no man would want to part ways with a 33-year-old union. “In the interest of peaceful coexistence, the court has put an end to the union between both of you.
“Jelilat shall take custody of the last child aged eight years old and Babatunde shall pay N12,000 for accommodation and an addition N5,000 for the movement of Jelilat’s belongings,” he said.

“Anyone one who says our able leader, David Mark should be voted out is an enemy of Idoma community.
“A leader like Mark is not common. It is sad that we are chasing away a man who spent 16 years of his life representing the good people of our land at the senate.”
He recalled that, “after serving the nation in the military, the love Mark has for his fatherland made him to join politics.
“It is sad. I heard some people condemning him for distributing rice and other food items to his constituents. This is a man that is out of job at the moment. Anyone who collects his gift and refuses to vote him will not escape the punishment of alekwu (gods) of our land,” he added.
On whom to blame over the failure of the creation of Apa State, Ogebe said, “is Mark the only legislator? Can only him create state? We should stop all these unnecessary blames. » Buhari Directs Immediate Payment Of December Salaries «

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate payment of December salaries to Federal Government workers.
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, who spoke yesterday in Abuja at the end of the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting, said salaries were already being paid in response to the Presidential directive.
She said salaries were being paid, and that people have already started getting alerts. “We are very conscious of the need that people are paid in time for the festive season,” she stated.
Mrs. Adeosun said the balance in the Excess Crude Account (ECA), was $2.258 billion as at December 22, adding that the amount remained unchanged from what it was in November. She said $150 million dividend from the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) was also shared at the meeting.
While giving the breakdown of what was shared for November among the three tiers of government, Mrs Adeosun lamented that there was revenue decline of N103.95 billion, indicating the difference of the N473.83billion for October and the N369.88 billion shared in November.
Yesterday, the three tiers shared a statutory revenue of N297.45 billion, Value Added Tax (VAT)-N61.18 billion, exchange gain-N4.92 billion and refund made by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for debt owed the Federation Account-N6.33 billion.
From the statutory revenue of N297.45billion, the Federal Government after deducting the cost of collection to the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) received N139.5 billion; states N70.76 billion; and local government areas- N54.55 billion.
Also, N25.6 billion was allocated to the oil producing states as the 13 per cent derivation fund. For VAT revenue of N61.18 billion, the Federal Government, after deducting cost of collection of FIRS got N8.8 billion, while states pocketed N29.36 billion and local governments got N20.55 billion.
The finance minister attributed the decline in allocation to reduction in revenue which was caused by shutdown and shut-in of production at various terminals during the period.
She however painted an optimistic picture when she said: “Even though the revenues were currently down, non oil revenue is beginning to make up for the shortfall in oil revenue. Ongoing maintenance and the shutdown and shut-in of production for repairs at different terminals during the month continued to impact crude oil and gas revenue negatively.
“We don’t have to rely on oil with its price going down and very unstable. We are focusing on revenue from non-oil and you can see impressive N369.882 billion compliance with tax.”
Apart from repairs and maintenance, members of the FAAC were told that there was also a revenue loss of $19.43 million as a result of reduction in export even though the average price of crude oil increased from $46.96 in September to $49.58 in October while non oil revenue also decreased by N114.2billion in November in comparison to the previous month of October.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presented the 2016 Appropriation Bill before a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives, as the nation faces an economic crisis made worse by fuel scarcity and falling Naira.
If properly implemented, the budget presents measures that could help the country chalk out path to development. From job creation initiatives to social security program, PREMIUM TIMES' National Assembly correspondent, Hassan Adebayo, lists six key things to expect in 2016.
1. Tax reduction for small businesses: "This budget is the platform for putting more Nigerians to work," Mr. Buhari said, adding that "Nigeria's job creation drive will be private sector led." "We will encourage this by a reduction in tax for businesses as well as subsidizing funding for priority sectors such as agriculture and solid minerals."
2. 500,000 teaching jobs: As an emergency measure to address the "chronic shortage" of teachers in public schools across the country, the president promised that 500,000 unemployed graduates and NCE holders would be trained and deployed in partnership with state and local governments. He said, "These graduate teachers will be deployed to primary schools, thereby, enhancing the provision of basic education especially in primary in our rural areas." A similar approach was implemented under late Umar Yar'Adua through Federal Teachers Scheme, FTS.
3. Implementable and transparent conditional cash transfer program: "This is for the poorest and most vulnerable Nigerians whose data are currently being compiled, Mr. Buhari said; and will be implemented through the office of the vice president. He added that the program would be implemented in phases. Already, the president had indicated in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework 2016-2018 the allocation of N500 billion to fund social security program. It is expected that this channel through which the government will fulfil the campaign promise of N5, 000 social safety net for vulnerable or unemployed Nigerians.
4. Free tertiary education for science, technology and education students and home-grown public primary school feeding: This is billed for public presentation "in the coming weeks" and "will mark historic milestone for us as a nation", the president said.
5. Large-scale infrastructural development: Nigeria currently faces huge infrastructural deficit, thereby, negatively affecting businesses and more importantly, all-round wellbeing of citizens. This is one challenge Nigeria may begin to address, if 2016 budget is properly implemented. The budget votes N1.8 trillion for capital expenditure, representing 30 per cent of the total budget of N6.08 trillion. Last year, the capital vote was 557 billion. In fact, a total of was N11 billion budgeted for the Ministry of Works. Giving breakdown of the 2016 capital vote, Mr. Buhari said, "This increased capital expenditure commits significant resources to critical sectors such as Works, Power and Housing - N443.4 billion; Transport - N202.0 billion; Special Intervention Programs - N200.0 billion; Defence - 134.6 billion; and Interior -53.1 billion. He continued, "These investments in infrastructure and security are meant to support our reforms in the Agriculture, Solid Minerals and other core job creating sectors of our economy." "This is a fulfilment of our promise to align expenditure to our long-term objectives, and a sign of government's commitment to sustainable development," he added.
6. Improved services delivery and security: Given that proper budget implementation is achieved, it is expected that Nigerians experience improved service delivery and security as the government plans to devote a significant portion of recurrent expenditure to institutions that provide critical services like education, N369.6 billion; defence, N294.5 billion; health, N221.7 billion; and N145.3 billion in the Ministry of Interior. "This will ensure our teachers, armed forces personnel, doctors, nurses, police men, fire fighters and many more critical service providers are paid competitively and on time."
In his closing remarks, Mr. Buhari said, "I know many people will say "I have heard this before". Indeed, trust in government, due to abuse and negligence of the past, is at an all-time low. This means we must go back to basics. Our actions will speak for us. My team of dedicated, committed and patriotic Nigerians is well aware of the task ahead and I can assure you that we are taking on the challenge."
Mr. Buhari also echoed the common knowledge that every analysis of Nigeria's development crisis must come to grip with the challenge of corruption which practically involves diversion of developmental funds for private use, thereby leading to soaring nature of poverty, hunger, infrastructural decay and poor service delivery among other that characterise contemporary Nigeria. Against this background, the president emphasised his commitment to the pursuit of "the recovery of everything that belongs to the people of Nigeria. No matter where it is hidden. No matter how long it will take."

Most grown adults are aware of the physical exchange. But the second is the spiritual which most people don't know about. Sex was intended for one man and one woman.
So many problems come as a result of sex outside of marriage. Disease and unplanned pregnancy are just the scratching the surface. You enter into a covenant with that other persons spirit. This happens every time you have sex with a person. And ... In addition to this ... Whoever they have had sex with ... Now you're attached to those people's spirits as well.
This is why there's so many people with multiple personalities, who are dibbling and dabbling in this and that, who are confused , and all messed up in their thoughts , feelings and behavior. They are dealing with their own personality as well as the other people they have physically and spiritually connected themselves too. The person you could be laying with could be full of the devil and now ... You are too. "/.
How can this be avoided. Do it God's way. Just wait. Save sex until marriage. Sex is a beautiful thing it's fun it's exciting when done God's way. God knows how it feels and what it does. » Professor Pat Utomi: ''2016 Budget Process Is A Joke'' «

A Nigerian economist has stated his opinions about the 2016 national budget presented to the National Assembly on Tuesday.
“Putting it in a very awkward position, I consider the budget process a joke,” he said.
Professor Pat Utomi was on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday morning, few hours before the presentation of the budget by President Muhammadu Buhari before a joint session of the National Assembly.
He further said that “January 20 years ago, I was one of those who began to analyse the budget, and by December, there were issues with implementation.
“We somehow do not have the discipline of the budget process, we go through budget as public relations exercises because they are supposed to be done and decision makers go ahead to do whatever they want to do,” he said.
Low Energy In Leadership
Proffering solutions to the problem of budget implementation, Professor Utomi said that “the goal is to achieve an execution premium, but if those who are responsible for it (the budget) really had no plan whatsoever to follow the budget, then, you are wasting your time.
“When those who are responsible for it, do not see long term goals in which the budget is just a piece in an unfolding set of activities that would reach a certain goal, there is no point of it.
“I think what has happened to us is that we got to a point of disconnect between the leadership elite, the political class, the bureaucratic elite and development aspirations of the Nigeria people,” he said.
Professor Utomi further said that the major reason why the budget isn’t working in Nigeria is ‘leadership’.
“There is low energy in leadership. we are not leading the country in the right direction.
“What the country is dealing with is a huge financing gap; we used to earn so much and now, we are earning this much, if we pretend that nothing has changed, then we would go into an economic spiral”, he added.
While stating that the 2016 budget would focus on addressing youth unemployment and cater for the vulnerable, President Buhari said that Nigeria remains committed to diversification to build and reflate the economy.

» 'Pay Me My Money' - Fasehun, OPC Leader, Tells Buhari «

Founder of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun yesterday requested the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to pay him and his organisation the money owed them for the protection of the nation’s oil pipelines.
Speaking at a quarterly interactive media roundtable in Lagos, the national chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, explained that six companies were given the contract by the Goodluck Jonathan administration to guard pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
Noting that a total of 18,000 personnel were sent to the field out of which OPC contributed 4,000, Fasehun lamented that his organisation was not given a dime before the contract, adding that after Jonathan’s exit, the contract was terminated with nothing given to the OPC.
According to him, “We were given the contract on March 15, 2015 and we deployed youths into the jungle. They faced insects, snakes and other wild animals and some of them even died. The government did not pay us a kobo before or during the time of the contract which ended on June 15.
“We have asked our lawyers to study the terms of the contract. An official in the NNPC told me that we had been paid but I told him that we had not received a penny. We call the attention of the powers that be to look into this. The holy books say that a worker deserves his wage.”
Recounting that Lai Mohammed had alleged that Jonathan gave the OPC over N2bn as mobilisation money for the election under the guise of pipeline protection, Fasehun urged Mohammed, who is now the Minister of Information and Culture, to withdraw the statement and correct the wrong impression.
“Someone who is now a minister once told Nigerians that I collected N2.8bn. Lai Mohammed, who I call a liar, is now the government’s mouthpiece and he must correct that impression,” he stated.
The OPC leader, while noting that Nigerians are yet to see the change the APC promised during the electioneering, said Buhari had spent over six months in office but had failed to impress Nigerians.
“Nigerians are angry today. They wanted a change and cheered when the APC came into power but the cheer has now become a jeer. Let the government know that this is not the change Nigerians voted for,” he added.

1. UNSOLVED MYSTERIES OF 2014.
This year started with the unsolved mysteries of the past year spearheaded by the traumatic missing of the Malaysian Airline MH370 which got missing on March 8 2014. But July 2015, an aircraft wing part washed up on Reunion Island. French officials confirmed debris was from MH370. Also is the abduction of the Chibok girls by the Islamic sect Boko haram who till now, have not yet been released or recovered.
2. TERRORISM/TERRORIST ATTACK CONTINUES
Three(3) days after the calendar turned 2015, when Nigerians were still in the Euphoria of the new year, tragedy struck. The terrorist Sect Boko haram reportedly massacred the village of Baga Bornu state. According to the CNN, the described it as a gory sight in which people were killed like mosquitoes. The number of deaths/fatalities varied with western media reporting “2000 deaths” while local media reported “at least 100 deaths” while the Nigerian Ministry of Defence said not more than 150 dead. As Nigerians and the world were still mourning this deaths, a powerhouse of the world was attacked. France witnessed the first of two attacks. The first, Charlie Hebdo attack. A French satirical weekly magazine featuring cartoons, Polemics, jokes, etc who because of their controversial Muhammad cartoons were attacked leading to the death of 12 persons. That was an eye opener for France. And they were later shocked to their ribs on the night of Friday Nov. 13, 2015 on a cool serene evening in the most beautiful city in the world, Paris when the Parisians were having a good time, the terrorist group ISIS attacked yet again, now in 6 different locations in Paris killing 128 persons and injuring hundreds. The world looked unto Paris with pity and sympathy and in unison Prayed for Paris. #PrayforParis.
Also in Baghdad Iraq, a refrigerator truck parked with explosives blew up inside the heart of a busy market in August killing 67 people and leaving hundreds hospitalised in its wake. ISIS equally claimed responsibility. In Ankara Turkey, two suicide bombers blew up near Ankara’s main train station, killing 97 people and wounding nearly 250 others.
Al Shabaab Sect continued their menace in Kenya and Somalia, killing dozens, injuring hundreds and rendering thousands homeless and out of jobs.
The Syrian war has lived up to its 4th year with ISIS and oppositions making life a living hell for President Bashar Al-Assad. It has been described as the worst event to happen since the end of WWII that has left more than 300,000 people dead and displaced 10.6 million.
3. XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS
(XENOPHOBIA- FEAR OF FOREIGNERS) The world focused her lenses on South Africa following the killing of foreigners, triggered by the comments of Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini on 21st March 2015 when he said that “Foreigners should pack their bags and go”. By April, violence escalated leading to the death of some foreigners, looting and destruction of properties owned by foreigners. An inhuman act which prompted the African oldest cum Strongest leader Robert Mugabe to say… “South Africa will kick down a statue of dead white men, but won’t even attempt to slap a live one. Yet the can stone to death a black man simply because he’s a foreigner.” - R.G MUGABE.
4. ELECTIONS
This year saw so many countries head to the polls. Sri Lanka were the first to head to the polls on 8th January. History was made in which incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa lost to his former minister of health Mr. Maithripala Sirisena. A great shock to Mr. Mahinda. More shock was to come as our own nation Nigeria, whose elections were postponed from Feb. 14th to March 28th provided the biggest surprise of elections in the year, as Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Presidential candidate of the APC(a party which was barely 21/2 years formed), captured Nigeria with aplomb and removed the incumbent Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP from power. A party which have ruled for 16 years.
There were equally elections in Ivory coast(where Alassane Ouattara was re-elected), Burkina Faso, Benin, Egypt, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia, Central Africa Republic, Sudan, Comoros, Burundi, India, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Andorra, Croatia, Greece, Canada, Argentina etc.
5. HAJJ STAMPEDE
As Muslim faithful’s headed over to the holy city to observe their annual Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Pandemonium arose as pilgrims who were throwing 7(seven) stones at Pillars called Jamarat(which represents the devil) met with other pilgrims moving towards them from the opposite direction thereby leading to chaos and inadvertently, a stampede occurred. 717 people lost their lives with an 863 injured in the incident. Deaths varying from the old, young and even little children. The deadliest incident to occur during the pilgrimage in 25 years.
6. ARAB MIGRATION
With the ongoing war in Syria and Iraq, European continent have witnessed a huge rise in migration from the Arab world. Thousands of people flee their countries in the middle East. Many flee due to the war over there, Others with the sole purpose to find comfort in Europe. Countries like Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, etc opened their borders to allow the migrants in. With the only means of transport been the sea, there has been series of loss of lives and capsizing of boats. Top of the bunch was a pathetic picture which went viral of a Syrian refugee who was in tears carrying the corpse of his 3year old son, Aylan Kurdi who drowned and was floated ashore in the Turkish beach. Very pathetic indeed.
7. FIRE OUTBREAK
Just two days(May 31st) after a new government was installed in Nigeria, the nation witnessed hell in physical form when a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit(PMS)equally known as petrol, lost control and rammed into Asaba Motor Park at Upper Iweka in Onitsha Anambra state. 69 Nigerians were burnt to death beyond recognition. Bodies were littered like roasted goats. A horrible sight to behold. Also in various parts of the country, there were reports of various fire outbreaks notably in Lagos and Kano states.
Equally in Indonesia, there have been nearly 100,000 active fire detections in 2015, with Indonesia’s fire outbreaks producing more daily emissions than entire emissions in US Economy.
8. SHOOTINGS
In 2015, there were more days with a mass shooting than days without a mass shooting according to Sarah Frostenson of VOX. There were 208 days with mass shootings and 146 days with none. In 2015, 457 people have died from mass shootings. In San Bernardino California, a couple killed at least 14 persons and wounded 21. June 18th 2015, Dylan storm Roof opened fire at a Methodist Episcopal black Church in Charleston S.C after first praying with them. Oct. 1st, Christopher Sean Harper, 26, shot and killed eight fellow students and a teacher at Umpqua Community college Roseburg and injured nine. He killed himself after exchanging fire with police. In Tunisia, June 26th an Islamist mass shooting occurred at the tourist resort of Port El Kantaoui, when an armed gunman attacked a hotel and killed thirty eight people, thirty of whom were British.
9. AIR CRASHES
This year has seen so many air disasters happen leading to deaths of thousands of persons. November 2015, we saw a Russian Passenger jet crash 22 minutes after take off killing all 224persons on board. The black box audio recording confirmed that the plane was brought down by a bomb which ISIS claimed responsibility. A bomb brought in from outside and planted in the plane. Russia offered a $50 million reward for information on how the bomb was put on the plane.
30th June, Indonesian Hercules C-130 military plane crashed killing 122 on board. 24th March, Germanwings Airbus A320 crashed in the French Alps on a flight from Barcelona to Dusseldorf, all 148 perished. 13th August, a Bristow helicopter crashed into the lagos lagoon, four people were reportedly dead. Some day later still in August, Nigerian Airforce Plane crashed in kaduna ten minutes after take off killing all 7 on board.
10. FALL OF OIL PRICES
The oil industry with its history of booms and busts is in its deepest downturn since the 90’s. More than 200,000 oil workers around the globe have lost their jobs. But why the sudden fall in Oil Prices? The answer is quite simple. The U.S who through the years has been a major importer of the black liquid gold has seen its domestic Oil production doubled over the last six years thereby pushing out oil imports. Countries like Saudi, Nigeria and Algerian oil that once was selling in U.S is now competing for Market in Asia and the producers are forced to drop prices. The current price of Brent crude now sells at $36 a barrel(This same crude as at 2013 sold at $158 a barrel). The biggest losers in this scenario includes the oil producing nations like Venezuela, Iran, Nigeria, Ecuador, Brazil, Russia, etc who are suffering economic turbulence. Chevron and Royal Dutch shell recently announced cuts to their pay rolls to save cash.
11. SECESSION AROUND THE WORLD
Just like it happened in Sudan Jan. 9th 2011, when the southern part of Sudan decided to secede and formed the world’s newest country… South Sudan. Some countries are currently been plagued incessantly by regions within them demanding for a withdrawal/split. Taking Nigeria as a case study, this year has seen a huge rise on demands made by the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) to secede from the nation Nigeria. There has been series of protests and demonstration around the South Eastern and South South regions of Nigeria which have led to death of Individuals and destruction of properties. With the movement been spearheaded by Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, a U.K based Nigerian who uses the media through his Radio Biafra network to propagate the split from Nigeria.
Equally in Spain, Catalonia one of Spain’s richest and most highly industralised regions are driving to get her Independence from Spain. Several attempts has been made within the years to vote out/secede from Spain which have until now proved futile. Nov. 2015, the Catalan govt vowed to move forward with its secession process defying orders from Spanish high court. Also in the U.S, the state of Texas are in a tussle to secede from the United states and are currently backed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
12. NATURAL DISASTERS
The most devastating natural disaster of 2015 was the earthquake in Nepal. A 7.9 magnitude quake hit just outside Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. More than 2100-9000 people were reportedly killed. April 22, Chile’s Calbuco Volcano erupted for the first time in 54years. It caused 6,000 local residents to evacuate the area. In April 2015, there was wildfire in Siberia that swept through 60 villages, and left 23 dead, more than 900 injured and left 5,000 homeless. The fires were set by Russian farmers preparing for spring planting.
In Afghanistan, Feb. 2015, series of avalanches caused by heavy snowstorms killed 196 people in the mountainous province of Panjshir. Over 40 avalanches occurred in a period of one week. Also there was wildfire in Australia that burned down dozens of homes and threatened many more in January. A state of emergency was declared in Texas in May after heavy rains covered the state. Homes were wiped out and 22 people died.
Dec. 20th, a massive landslide occurred in Shenzhen Hengtaiyu Industrial park of China leaving 91 people missing. The landslide buried 33 buildings.
13. WARS
According to Pablo Escobar, the great drug lord of Columbia … “We fight wars to make Peace” . I’m still trying to decipher this assertion. This year has seen so many countries engage in war. The war in Afghanistan has continued to grow on yearly basis since its inception in 1978. The Taliban has continuously been a thorn in the flesh of the Afghan government.
Syrian war has so far been the most deadliest in the year. There has been various groups of fighters ranging from the Syrian government, The Kurds, Islamic state, Al Nusra front and the opposition. It has been described as another world war which has involved so many countries like Iran, Iraq, Qatar, U.S, Jordan, Russia, Saudi Arabia etc some who entered the war to support the Syrian government, while some came to oust the current president.
Also there is a Civil war going on in Yemen, Burundi, Congo, Central Africa Republic, Iraq, Pakistan, Ukraine, South Sudan, not forgetting the war against terrorism in Nigeria.
2015 is about to become history, we can only but anticipate for a better 2016.

» Kenyan Muslims Shield And Protect Christians In Mandera Bus Attack «

A group of Kenyan Muslims travelling on a bus ambushed by Islamist gunmen protected Christian passengers by refusing to be split into groups, according to eyewitnesses. They told the militants "to kill them together or leave them alone", a local governor told Kenyan media.
At least two people were killed in the attack, near the north-eastern village of El Wak on the Somali border. The Somali based al-Shabab group is the main suspect for the attack. It has not said if it was responsible, but often carries out attacks in Kenya's north-east.
The bus was travelling from the capital Nairobi to the town of Mandera. When al-Shabab killed 148 people in an attack on Garissa University College in April, the militants reportedly singled out Christians and shot them, while freeing many Muslims.
An attack last year in Mandera, in which Christians were killed after being separated from Muslims, caused the departure of more than 2,000 teachers, as well as many health workers who had come from other parts of the country. An employee of the Makkah bus company, who had spoken to the driver involved in the attack, confirmed to the BBC that Muslims had refused to be separated from their fellow Christian passengers.
One of the victims was shot dead after trying to run away from the militants after passengers had been forced off the bus, the same employee told the BBC's Bashkas Jugsodaay in Nairobi. Al-Shabab has been at war with Kenya ever since Kenyan forces entered Somalia in October 2011 in an effort to crush the militants. Kenya's north-eastern region has a large population of ethnic Somalis.
