Celebrities worldwide have been known to lie about their date of birth. Nigerian celebrities are not exempted from this. Many celebs have lied about their ages, reducing it so that they can appear younger to their fans and to the public. Rising pop singer Kiss Daniel is the latest Nigerian celebrity to be caught allegedly tampering with his age.

Below is a list of Nigerian celebrities who have been alleged of falsifying their ages.

1) May D

Circa 2012 just after Psquare and Jude Okoye cut ties with the gifted pop singer there were unconfirmed reports floating around that May D was eighteen years old. This was probably concocted by a Twitter troll looking to cause some controversy. It should be noted that the singer has not revealed his real age yet.

2) Caroline Danjuma

years ago the industry celebrated the thirty-fourth birthday of the popular actress. Her Wikipedia page said she was thirty four years old and that is what everyone went with. A few days later surprisingly Caroline Danjuma would claim to be twenty eight years of age and her Wikipedia page was gone from the Internet.

3) Korede Bello

The Mavin singer has always claimed to be a very young man.  shocking everyone that he was 18 years old.

This year he celebrated his 23rd birthday. There are however who say they have known the singer since 2009 and it wasn’t possible for him to have been fourteen years old then. Korede Bello still insists he is 23.

4) Halima Abubakar

This actress’ age issue is a lit bit confusing. Earlier in her career Halima Abubakar claimed to be in her thirties only for her to later reveal that she increased her age so that she could be accepted in Nollywood.

Last year she said that she had just entered her thirties. Many of fans don’t believe her though. They suspect she is around her mid-thirties.

5) Toyin Lawani

The do-it-all mum of two and celebrity stylist announced that she turned thirty seven this year. For some reason her fans did not believe her and said that she reduced her age.

6) Kiss Daniel

The singer’s age has raised a few eyebrows. Kiss Daniel has always said he was a brilliant chap who graduated with a first class degree.

Last week he revealed he entered the University at the age of thirteen, graduated at eighteen and is now twenty-four years old. Now surprisingly his Wikipedia page said he was twenty-eight. Presently it is back at twenty-four

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 Review: Get Ready for War!

If you were in the market for an exposition-heavy installment, then Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 was the episode for you.

There’s been a tremendous amount of hype surrounding Game of Thrones Season 8, mostly because of it being the final piece of the puzzle for a story that started being told back in 2011.
The season premiere was mostly set-up for the battles, backstabbing, and drama to come, and it succeeded in most aspects.

It was surprising that Daenerys and her army arrived at Winterfell with Jon by her side during the opening moments. It seemed like a scene that was going to get held for the back half of the installment.

Arya: You used to be taller.
Jon: How did you sneak up on me?
Arya: How did you survive a knife through the heart?
Jon: I didn’t.

Many complained about the fast pace of Game of Thrones Season 7, but Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 was a well-balanced hour. The reaction from the people of Winterfell to the dragons in tow was something else. Then there was Arya. It was as though she recognized at that moment that she and her people actually had a chance at winning the great war.

Daenerys knew she faced an uphill battle to use her southern charm to warm up the cold northern hearts, but she made a big mistake by telling Samwell about both his father and brother dying under her watch. That lit a fire under Sam to tell Jon the truth.

The iciness between Sansa and Daenerys was incredible. At one point, it seemed like they were going to make good allies.

Samwell saved Ser Jorah’s life, and she felt she owed something to him in return. Jon didn’t know a thing about Randall and Dickon dying under his new girlfriend’s watch, and I’m not sure he needed to know.

I used to think you were the cleverest man alive – Sansa

What he did need to know was the truth about his lineage, and the reveal was fascinating. Samwell delivered it from a place of anger. His father was fair game, but the thought of losing his brother was just too much.

It remains to be seen what Jon will do with this news.

He doesn’t have a lot of time to soak in the revelations considering the fact that the Night King and his army are on their way to cause as much carnage as they can with their new dragon.
Jon struggled to believe the news at first, and he couldn’t believe his father would have lied to him. But Ned was honouring Lyanna’s wishes by saying that he was his child.

There’s a good chance Jon would have died much sooner than Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 10 if anybody else knew the truth. Lyanna Mormont is going to make her voice heard when the truth about Jon comes out.

She’s not the only one who isn’t as trusting of his actions right now, but if she sees that he is a true heir to the Iron Throne, it’s going to change things significantly.

I’m going to put a prince in your belly – Euron

It’s not surprising that Sansa was on the fence about Daenerys from the get-go. Sansa sulked her way through the premiere, presumably because she wondered what the Mother of the Dragons would do when the war was over. There are some big arguments on the horizon, but a lot of that is going to need to be put aside because the preview for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 showed the people of Winterfell gearing up for the battle.

Cersei likes her odds of winning better if she lets everyone else fight in the first wave, and she will take out the stragglers down the line. Her thirst for power has always been problematic, and this decision is either going to make her reign last longer or bring it to a conclusion much quicker.

The poetic justice here would be if Jaime were the one to kill Cersei. It’s possible that Cersei will outlive her brother, but it would be satisfying to have her brother be the one to end both her reign and her life.

Cersei sleeping with Euron was not surprising. She’s worried that Euron tires of waiting around for her. He’s an impulse-driven man who doesn’t think his actions through.

His comments about keeping Yara around were comical, but it seemed a bit out there that she even survived this long. A part of me wondered whether Theon showing up to save her life was a dream. It was too easy.

Background

I was very stubborn and I used to get into a lot of trouble. We lived in a face-me-I-face-you apartment throughout my childhood and I had varied experiences. We were not rich but we never begged to eat. I have always loved to appear on the TV screen even as a kid. At some point, I wanted to be a newscaster. At another time, I wanted to be an actor. I think I am living my dreams.

Education

For my elementary education, I attended Alimosho Primary School, Alimosho, in Lagos. For my post-elementary education, I went to Alimosho Grammar School. I then proceeded to Lagos State Polytechnic for my tertiary education to study Business Administration, though I didn’t graduate.

Career

I have always wanted to become an actress. When I met my late husband, I told him about my dream and he said there was no problem. However, he gave me the condition that I had to finish with childbearing before I went into the industry. We planned on having three kids but he passed on before I could start my acting career. After he died, I continued my business and I met someone who prevailed on me to act. I told him I wanted to but didn’t have the time. He kept on pestering me and I decided to give in just to get him off my back. He then took me to his brother who was in the industry and that was how my career started. The first movie I acted in was titled, Tori muri kan (Because of N20). I only had a cameo role in it. Now, I have lost count of all the movies I have acted in.

Challenges

The first challenge I faced when I joined the movie industry was the issue of poor pay. One had to pay to join a caucus and you also had to prove beyond reasonable doubts why a role should be given to you. You had to fight for virtually everything. Nobody wanted to believe in me enough to give me roles. It wasn’t easy for me because I found it difficult to pay bills.

Yoruba movies

Even though I am Igbo, I act mostly Yoruba movies. I actually speak Yoruba more fluently than my native language. When I first told my late husband I wanted to join the movie industry, he said I would be acting English movies. However, at the time I decided to join the industry, the person who introduced me was a Yoruba actor. Even when I tried to get close to the English movie producers, they weren’t as welcoming as the Yoruba people. The Yoruba people’s structure is stronger. In the English sector, a lot of people would want to sleep with you before giving you roles.

Breakthrough

I think my breakthrough came gradually. God decided to announce me to the world when I produced the movie, Akun, and that’s what most people know me for. However, a major part of the breakthrough also came when I shot my first movie,Ogusho; followed by my second movie,Idaro.

Lessons

I have learnt that you need to have passion for your job. That way, when you encounter challenges, you wouldn’t stop. You also need to be patient and hard-working. Consistence matters a lot and whatever would be would be. You should be open to learning and be friendly with people. Every other thing would fall into place. I have passion for my job and I enjoy what I’m doing. I don’t compete with anybody.

Personal productions

I have produced about 10 movies. They include Ogusho, Idaro, Akun, Ebolo, Ewatomi, Stella, My Husband, My Concubine, Two Mothers, Bridal Shower, and Encounter. Production is another thing that I love doing. I love being in charge of the cast and crew on set. Kunle Afod has directed 99 per cent of my movies.

Fame

Fame has not robbed me of anything; rather, it has even given me more. I’m still the same old me. I play pretence for a living but off-screen, what you see is what you get; I cannot pretend to save my life.

Other interests

For now, I do only acting and producing, and that’s what pays my bills. I wish I could venture into other businesses but I’m still looking into that.

Single parenthood

My experience as a single mum has been amazing. I thank God for my parents, siblings and everyone around me. My children are no longer kids, so they can do many things on their own. They actually don’t live with me; they stay with my parents but we are all in the same area. I don’t want maids to watch over them; I believe they are better off staying with my parents. However, I make sure that we communicate well.

Hobbies

I like watching movies and I relax by doing that. I also like surfing the Internet. I hang out with friends and we talk. I like laughing.

Fashion

I believe that less is more. Most importantly, I don’t like wearing things that are in vogue. I like comfort. I also like to be singled out with my appearance.

If photography was a part of your SAED programme and you definitely love it then why not make a hobby a business opportunity? It might be expensive to get a camera but it’s definitely a great investment.

4. Catering

Everyone certainly needs to it and if cooking and making of pastries is what you are good at then go for it and make some money off your talent.

Beadmaking is a huge part of SAED programmes nationwide and if you participated in this you should definitely make the best of it as it is quite a lucrative business.

6.  Second-hand clothing business

The second-hand goods sector keeps booming everyday and social media is a great platform to set up one. Many Instagram accounts now retail second-hand goods online and calls them Thrift Stores. This is one business that is easy to set up with little capital

7. Leatherworks and Ankara  crafts

The Ankara crafts and leather work industry is also a great place to venture into. Many SAED programmes offer the opportunity to learn this skill and this is something that can be used to keep busy and as a source of income after NYSC.
