First test-tube baby penguin says hello to the world

To science, she’s simply known as “184.” But on the
empirical cuteness scale, the world’s first test-tube
penguin scores a “100.”
The still unnamed baby Magellanic penguin was hatched
at SeaWorld in San Diego 12 weeks ago, but the first
images of her were released to the public this week.
She’s the first penguin to be born using artificial
insemination , a technique researchers say will help them
increase diversity in the captive penguin population and
help their studies of the creatures.
“The goal of our research center is to study a species’
reproductive biology, to learn as much as we can about
that and use this to not only monitor the health of not
only our zoological populations but wild populations as
well,” said Sea World’s reproductive center Scientific
Director Dr. Justine O’Brien.
The baby penguin is reportedly doing well. Twelve weeks
after her birth, she is mingling with the natural-born
penguin population and has transitioned from being hand-
fed by a team of biologists to eating fish on her own.

There are an estimated 1.8 million Magellanic penguins
living in the wild. The species is typically found in South
America around the Falkland Islands, Chile and Argentina.
The species is considered “near threatened,” as its
numbers have been affected by oil spills, diminished fish
populations and climate change. O’Brien says the
successful breeding of 184 is not only helpful for research
purposes but could help scientists in future efforts to
increase the wildlife stock of penguins and other species.

Top 10 Signs He Is Only Keeping You For Sex

Below are some top signs that your partner is only using
you without any futuristic plans:
(1) He only calls you on phone whenever he is Hot: This
kind of relationship is strictly based on business. He calls
you to talk dirty and to satisfy his sexual fantasies. He
insists you show up at his place immediately for s*x after
which he goes cold for a while.
(2) He is always reluctant to discuss personal problems
with you: Men naturally will only share their problems with
who they have feelings for as well as trust in. No man goes
to a brothel to discuss issues aside s*x and its immediate
action.
(3) He maintains coldness with you on the social media
and stays off anything related to you:
When a man truly loves a woman, he flaunts her
everywhere he goes like a prestigious award especially
when she is cute in order to gain the respect of his friends.
When its strictly sex, he keeps the girl as his dark secret.
Under no circumstance will her picture find his way to his
Facebook, BBM or Whatsapp.
(4) Constant demand for unclad photos: No serious man
with good intentions does this. A guy using you will
demand for your n*de photos and later show his friends to
brag about his social status and sexual prowess.
(5) Lack of public appearances: His business with you is
in the bedroom. He will not want to be seen with you in
public to prevent the sexual relationship from getting to
the knowledge of the general public.
(6) Minimal conversations: Communication is key for the
development of strong relationships that could lead to
marriage. When all he does is head for ur panties and other
sensitive body parts shortly after your arrival in his house,
then there is a looming crisis.
(7) He doesn't want to meet your family members: when
its strictly s*x with no plans for the future, definitely there
is no need to associate with lady's family members to
prevent unnecessary social ties.
( cool He flares up when you talk about marriage: This is
simply because he doesn't see the image of a wife in you.
(9) When he frequently uses s*x enhancing drugs like
Viagra: The truth is that these drugs turn the men into
beasts and they end up hurting the woman. This takes off
the pleasure of sex and turns it to torture.
(10) He shows up at your place once in a blue moon and
keeps other girls: If he loves you truly, his heart will be
wherever you are as his treasured asset, but because you
are a mere option, he visits you only when his schedule
isn't tight.
I hope these signs guide you from barking the wrong tree.
Time is precious. Don't waste it on people that don't care.

Absence From Court: TB Joshua Speaks After Failing To Be At The Court

The General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All
Nations (SCOAN), Prophet TB Joshua and 2 contractors
who are facing trial for criminal negligence over a church
building collapse that killed 116 worshippers in September
2014 failed to appear in court today, prompting the judge to
adjourn the case. This case is following a coroner's ruling
in July 2015 that blamed Synagogue and 2 engineers for
the 12th September 2014 tragedy.
At the hearing today, Justice Lawal Akapo said,"It appears
the defendants are not mindful that this is a criminal
proceeding. This is a criminal trial and a sensitive matter
like this one should be given accelerated hearing". Akapo
has directed the defence team to provide the court with
the engineers' addresses within 72 hours and he has
adjourned the case until December 11. Meanwhile TB
Joshua earlier today took to Twitter saying,""Those who
BLESS GOD in their trials will be BLESSED BY GOD through
their trials."

I Caught My Husband Sniffing My Niece's Pants

I caught my husband of five years sniffing the panties of
my 15 years niece. I don't know if I should confront him or
let the issue lie.
I also think he bought my niece a new blackberry phone
because the day I insisted on making my niece tell me
where she got the phone, he became too overprotective of
her and we almost fought over the issue.
My niece recently lost her father, making my sister a
widow who let go of her children to stay with her relatives,
that is how my niece came to stay with me,
On the 26th of November 2015, I saw him at the backyard
next to the heap of clothes my niece brought out to wash,
he picked up a pant, my niece's pant and sniffed it, I almost
screamed where I was.
Also I keep noticing the look they exchange, very
flirtatious.
Lastly my niece is acting like she is his wife, she dishes
his food even before the children's food, doesn't knock
before opening the door of our bedroom, and the most
disturbing is, she asks my husband where he is going
when he wants to go out as if she is his wife, my husband
is 37 and this girl is 15, I suggested to my husband that
we send her off to a boarding school, he rejected the idea
and even got angry with me saying it will affect the girl
psychologically, as if I want to dump her in a boarding
house and run away. I want to confront my husband but I
have no evidence, and for my niece I respect my eldest
sister so much that I don't know what to do, I feel like an
outsider in my own home.
P.S. My husband is a banker and also a pastor at our
church.
I sincerely need your advice.
Thank you.

» Buhari Deserves Place In Guinness Book Of Records - NFF President «

President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju
Pinnick has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is
worthy of a bold mention in the Guinness Book of Records.
The NFF boss said this on Monday in Santiago as he
boarded a flight to Buenos Aires on the way back home
from a success story at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
According to a post that appeared on the NFF, Pinnick
said: “Yes, it is a success story as you just mentioned,
but it would not have ended that way without the great
support that the Nigeria Football Federation continues to
receive from the President Muhammadu Buhari –led
Federal Government.
“In fact, the Nigeria Football Federation is dedicating this
triumph to President Buhari. He is a man of history. He
was there when the first set won the trophy in 1985 as
military Head of State; now he is here as civilian President
when the Class of 2015 emerged victorious.
Seriously speaking, I don’t think there is any Head of State
or Government in the entire universe who has this honour,
and for this, our PMB deserves a place in the Guinness
Book of Records.”
Pinnick, whose one–year administration can now point to
successes at the African Women Championship (Namibia
2014), African Youth Championship (Senegal 2015) and now
the Eaglets’ triumph (aside qualifications for several major
tournaments), insisted on Monday that the masterstroke
for the Eaglets’ confident and determined approach was
President Buhari’s call to the team a day earlier.
“We appreciate the President for sparing time out of his
very tight schedule to talk to each and every player and
official. That was a massive motivation. At the end of the
conversation, the players told me they would go all out and
give whatever it would take to win, having been inspired by
the country’s leader.
“Football is a potent and huge tool for national unity and
the focus of the present NFF administration is to build a
sustainable football culture for our country. Triumphs are
good, but we must not overlook the sustainable culture.
” The NFF President assured that his administration would
be strongly involved in the players’ development, unlike
what happened in the past. “People have talked about
monitoring the players. We would do more than that. We
would be part of their developmental programs and
seamless transition to senior categories.
“We are very happy with this victory because it gives us
the opportunity to present to our dear PMB his first global
crown on his return as civilian President.”
Pannick, a member of the Organizing Committee for the
FIFA U-20 World Cup, and who joined the dignitaries to
hand out the medals in Vina del Mar on Sunday, hinted that
the NFF already has other targets in its immediate radar.
“Of course, we are celebrating. But I can tell you that our
focus has already shifted to the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations
in Senegal. It is important that we earn
a ticket to the men’s football tournament of next year’s
Olympics in Brazil.
“We will give Samson Siasia’s squad all the support to win
the ticket. And of course, we have also concluded
arrangements to ensure the Super Eagles defeat Swaziland
in the race for the 2018 FIFA World Cup starting with the
first leg in Lobamba on Friday,” said Pinnick, as he
congratulated the U-20 women national team, Falconets,
for earning a ticket to the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World
Cup after beating South Africa’s Basetsana on Sunday.

A member of the Ibam Edet Social Club in Ogudu narrated
how Ete Ibam met his death to Pulse.
"Ete Ibam's death is really a mystery but he led himself to
such a gory death. What actually happened stemmed from
the fact that he raped his sister's 18 year-old daughter and
the girl laid a curse on him.
The mother of the girl lives in Ikorodu but the girl decided
to leave home and go to Ogudu to live with her uncle.
According to the girl, on the night of the incident, she was

» Retired Pastor And Wife Accused Of Stealing A Baby «

Tuesday, paraded a 71-year-old man, said to be a
retired pastor, for allegedly stealing a year-old
baby.
The suspect was arrested alongside his wife by
the police, following an alarm said to have been
raised by the mother of the baby.
Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joshak
Habila, who paraded the suspects, said the
arrests were part of the achievements of his
command for the month of August.
He said a month ago, a 21-year-old pregnant
mother reported that she lost her 11 months old
baby to a supposed friend under the pretence of
offering help to her.
The police boss said luck, however, ran out on
the supposed friend, when the anti- robbery
squad of the command intercepted him at
Owerrinta and arrested him for allegedly
trafficking pregnant girls to Port Harcourt, Rivers
State capital.
He said the arrest led to the discovery of a child,
who was previously stolen in Aba and allegedly
sold to the retired pastors’ wife, who was said to
have kept the deal away from her husband.
According to Habila, the suspect sold the baby for
N500,000 to the wife of a pastor who allegedly
lied to her husband that she went through the
normal process of adoption for the baby.
The wife of the pastor, the commissioner
explained, admitted to have paid for the baby in
the premises of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in
Umuahia, through her friend, one Maria Mba, said
to a senior civil servant in Bende Local
Government Area.
But her pastor husband denied knowledge of the
illegal adoption of the baby, saying he had been
requesting from his wife the adoption documents
which he claimed he never saw till date.
The other suspects, Maria Mba and Ekwutosi, also
explained their role in the transaction, with
Ekwutosi saying he connected Maria to the illegal
deal.
He claimed that Mba approached him and
requested for baby girl which he arranged for
and procured, after which he invited them to the
FMC where the deal was finally sealed.
Though Mba said she collected the money and
gave to Ekwutosi N400,000 and kept N100,000
as part of her share of the deal, Ekwutosi denied
receiving the money from her.

» Buhari’s Integrity Will Soon Be Tested In Kogi - Vanguard «

Humanrights activist, Mr. Emmanuel
Adejoh, has assured the nation that Buhari’s
anti-corruption stance would soon come
under the light in Kogi State with the
emergence of Prince Abubakar Audu as the
governorship candidate for the All
Progressives Congress, ahead of the
November 21 governorship election in the
state.
Prince Audu is standing trial over sundry
corruption charges, ranging from money
laundering to embezzlement of public
funds.
In a chat with Vanguard in Anyigba, Adejoh
said the APC, under the leadership of
President Mujammadu Buhari, shouldn’t
have allowed someone whose integrity was
tainted to contest under his party.
He said: “The essence of the APC screening
of candidates for the election was supposed
to ensure that only credible people are
allowed to contest the governorship poll.
‘’I am not a politician but as a citizen of
this state, I am waiting for the day
Buhari will stand on the podium to lift
the hand of Prince Audu who has been
accused by the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission of corrupt
practices.
“Though Audu has not been convicted,
many people in the state are already
insinuating that Audu is desperate about the
governorship in order to alter the course of
justice. But I think he has the constitutional
right to contest the election”.
Adejoh called on political parties in the
country to stop parading corrupt individuals
as candidates for political offices, saying
leaders must be people who only see the
good of all.
Meanwhile, a political pressure group, Team
Kogi 2016, has challenged the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, not to
be intimidated by the recent emergence of
Prince Abubakar Audu as the governorship
candidate of APC in Kogi State.
The group in a statement signed by
Comrade Sam Yinka, said it was imperative
for the anti-graft commission to
substantiate its charges against the former
governor in order to give the fight against
corruption in the country a new vista.
“In the days of Jonathan, political allies were
said to be shielded from anti-graft agencies.
President Buhari must know that the main
reason Nigerians voted for him was his
anti-corruption credentials. He must not
sacrifice this hope on a platter of politics,”
the statement read.

» FG Approves N400 Million Bailout For Nigerian Students Abroad «

The Federal Government has approved
N400 million for the payment of upkeep
allowances of Nigerian students on foreign
scholarships.
The Acting Permanent Secretary, Federal
Ministry of Education, Hajia HIndatu
Abdullahi, made the disclosure in an
interview with the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.
Abdullahi attributed the delay to non-release
of capital allowance and the change in
government which delayed the release of
capital allocation for 2015.
She explained that the upkeep allowance of
the scholars did not come as over head
allocation but capital allocation.
According to her, the allowance payable to
the scholars outside the country is from
January to December and it is calculated and
captured in the budget every year.
She said that the plight of the students was
being taken seriously, adding that “we just
have an approval of about N400 million, we
are now working with the Federal Ministry
of Finance to obtain it.
“After that, we will head to the Budget Office
and the Central Bank of Nigeria to ensure
that the money is remitted as soon as
possible to the missions.
“In terms of the paper work, we have
concluded; we want to pay something so
that their hardship will be minimised.
Abdullahi said the entitlements were being
worked out from January to December,
adding that in 2014, the students got all
allowances for the year between July and
August.
“Whenever we receive capital allocation in
the ministry, we work out the scholarship
money and pay into CBN.
“CBN will now remit same in line with the
information we have given them; it will
remit to embassies which will remit to the
scholars.
The acting permanent secretary said that if
there was any delay in the release of capital
allocation, it would affect scholars’ upkeep
allowances.

» Production: Kachikwu Gives Warri Refinery 90-Day Ultimatum «

The Group Managing Director of the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,
Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has issued 90-day
ultimatum to the management of Warri
Refining and Petrochemicals Company to
commence full production at the facility.
The refinery has the capacity to process
125,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Speaking at the end of a facility tour of the
refinery and the adjoining Pipelines and
Products Marketing Company jetty and
depot in Warri, Delta State, Kachikwu
charged the management and staff of the
Company to ensure that the plant was
streamed back to full and active service
within the projected period.
The GMD noted that he was ready to
provide the necessary support needed by
the management of the facility in order to
enable them meet the target.
Kachikwu, in a statement from the
corporation on Thursday, reportedly said
“Whatever you need to do to get your
refinery back on track, please do it now
because this is the time. It’s a 90-day fast-
track programme and whatever you need
me to do to make that happen, let me
know.”
On Monday, The PUNCH exclusively
reported that barely a month after it
resumed production, the Warri refinery
was shut down again, a situation that may
constitute a setback to the new
administration’s current efforts at shoring
up local supply of petroleum products.
The NNPC’s spokesperson had told our
correspondent on Sunday that it took the
action because the pipelines supplying
crude oil to the Warri refinery had been
compromised by vandals.
It, however, said the closure would be
temporary as it hoped to reopen the
refinery on Tuesday.
Kachikwu, however, enjoined the
management of the refinery to resuscitate
the petrochemicals plant which was
commissioned in March 1988.
On the state of PPMC storage facility, the
GMD promised to end the era where the
company relied heavily on private depots to
store bulk of its petroleum products.
He said, “Some of the biggest storage
facilities in this industry belong to PPMC. I
recall when I was growing up in this
industry, we all got our products from
PPMC. In fact, the fear of PPMC then was
the beginning of wisdom, but now PPMC is
putting products more on the tanks of
marketers and letting them run the show,
but that is not going to continue under my
watch.”
Responding to the GMD’s ultimatum, the
acting Managing Director, WRPC, Engr.
Solomon Ladenegan, said measures had
been put in place to ensure that the plant
was back in full operation by early
November in good time for the three
months fast track moratorium.
“The 37-year old refinery which has been
undergoing phased rehabilitation exercise
was shut last week due to some technical
hitches in one of its units,” the NNPC said in
its statement.

An occupant in the Nissan car was dragged out dead when the container was finally lifted off the vehicles by 9pm.
The incident, which occurred at  about  4.45pm, reportedly caused a stampede as motorists plying the ever busy route  abandoned their vehicles and fled.
This also resulted in a multiple accidents, with fleeing motorists and commuters sustaining varying degrees of injuries in the process.

Why the container fell off — FRSC

“There is an ongoing operation code named Operation Scorpion initiated from  the Corps ,  where we are on the the look out for unlatch container and its still ongoing he said”.
As at the time he spoke with Vanguard, Omesje said he was on his way to have an on-the-spot assessment of the damage.
Also, the  South West Spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that only one person lost his life as against earlier  speculation that several lives were lost.
He said: “Only one person is at risk and that is the  driver of the SUV jeep on which the container landed “.
